Money Management
Managing personal finances can become more challenging with age, especially when faced with health changes, limited mobility, vision loss, forgetfulness, or concerns about financial exploitation. At Empowering Support for Wellness & Aging (ESWA), our Money Management Program helps eligible older adults maintain financial stability, pay bills on time, and remain independent in their communities.
The program provides trusted assistance while respecting each individual’s preferences, privacy, and financial independence. Depending on a person’s needs, ESWA offers two levels of support designed to help older adults manage everyday financial responsibilities and reduce the stress associated with bill paying and budgeting.
Whether someone needs occasional assistance keeping track of monthly bills or more comprehensive financial management support, ESWA’s Money Management Program can help provide peace of mind for both participants and their families. Explore the services below to learn more.
Bill Payer Service
The Bill Payer Service matches screened, trained, and insured volunteers with older adults who need assistance managing routine financial tasks. Volunteers work closely with participants to develop budgets, organize financial records, write checks, balance checkbooks, and keep track of monthly income and expenses.
Participants remain in control of their finances and continue making all financial decisions. Volunteers provide support and guidance, helping older adults stay organized and avoid missed payments while maintaining their independence. Volunteers typically meet with participants on a regular basis to assist with ongoing financial management needs.
Representative Payee Service
The Representative Payee Service is designed for older adults who are no longer able to independently manage their finances or who may have experienced financial exploitation. Under this program, ESWA is appointed by the Social Security Administration to manage an individual’s Social Security benefits and ensure funds are used appropriately to meet their needs.
ESWA is responsible for budgeting funds, paying monthly bills, meeting basic needs, and helping plan for future expenses. The goal is to provide financial security while allowing participants to focus on other aspects of their lives without the burden of managing complex financial responsibilities.
By helping older adults manage everyday financial affairs, avoid missed payments, and reduce vulnerability to financial difficulties, ESWA’s Money Management Program supports greater independence, stability, and peace of mind. Whether you are seeking assistance for yourself or a loved one, our team can help determine which level of support may be most appropriate.
